The Ole Brook Run Series can be run in person or virtually! So if you have to work on race weekend, or maybe you'll be on vacation during one of the races, or maybe you live in Alaska and it's a little difficult to make it to Brookhaven 5 times in the year, you can still participate in all 5 races in the Ole Brook Run Series!
What Is a Virtual Race?

A virtual race is a race that can be run (or walked) from any location you choose. You can run or walk on the road, on the trail, on the treadmill, at the gym or on the track (or even at another race). You get to run your own race, in your own space, at your own pace. After the race, we will ship your race packet  directly to you which includes your finisher medal, t-shirt, and race bib.

How It Works

Register Online

Click the registration link for your desired race, just as you would for regular registration. When you select your category, you must select VIRTUAL PARTICIPANT. An extra cost will automatically be charged to cover shipping. (This is not optional)

Run Your Distance

Run your distance on your own time, in any location. You can run on the treadmill while you watch Netflix, or run on the road with a group of friends, or run while you're on vacation at the beach. It's your race, in your space, at your pace!

Submit Your Time

This part is optional. We're going to mail you your medal even if you don't submit a time. However, most participants prefer to submit a time because it gives a sense of accomplishment and lets you celebrate your hard work! You can submit your time by clicking here.

We Mail Your Packet

After the race we will mail you your race packet which includes your t-shirt, finisher medal, and race bib. A shipping and handling charge of $5 will automatically be charged for all Virtual Participants.

Virtual Option FAQs

I am registered for the race, but I can't make it. I still want my medal and shirt so do I need to change my registration to a Virtual Participant?

Yes. In order to be considered a Virtual Participant, you must be registered prior to the event as a Virtual Participant. If you are registered as a regular participant and are unable to make it to the event, you can change your registration as long as it is done prior to online registration closing for that event. Contact us for any help you need in accessing or changing your registration status. Regular participants who do not show up for an event will be considered a "no show" and their position can be sold at race day registration should the event sell out. No race packets will be mailed to anyone who is not registered as a Virtual Participant.

If I have a friend who can get my packet for me, do I have to pay for shipping?

Yes. Starting in 2020, all virtual race packets will be mailed. We're sorry if this seems unnecessary, but this will help make on-site registration run more efficiently and it will help avoid confusion. We also will not meet any participant to deliver packets. No exceptions!

Does the virtual option apply to the 1 Mile Kids Run?

The Virtual Option is not specified by category. So whether you're a 10K, 5K, 1 Mile Kids Run, runner or walker, you pay the same price. Your registration includes a t-shirt, finisher medal, and race bib. So if a kid wanted to just run a mile virtually, they're welcome to do so. However, they would pay the full price of the 5K/10K rather than the lower regular price of the 1 Mile Kids Run.

Do I have to submit a time?

No. However, we believe that submitting a time will help you feel a sense of accomplishment and it will give us the honor of celebrating with you! But don't worry, we'll still mail you your packet even if you don't.

Are awards given to Virtual Participants?

No. Since we are unable to verify the accuracy of any submitted time, no awards are given to Virtual Participants. Overall and age group winners are only awarded to regular participants who are at the event. Those placements are based on the official timer's results. Virtual Participants will only receive their finisher medal, t-shirt, and race bib.

Can I run some races virtually and some races at the event?

Absolutely! If you know ahead of time that you won't be at certain events, just register for those races virtually.

Wait...so I can run the entire series virtually and never come to a single event?

Yep! We'll definitely miss having you at the events, and you will definitely miss out on getting to be around our amazing community of runners, but we understand that not everyone can make it. Perhaps you live out of state and it's too far to drive...or you're deployed over seas and serving our country...or maybe you're new to running and you're just not quite ready to run with other people. That's ok! The virtual option is for you!

Do discounts apply to the Virtual Option?

No. Due to the extra expense of shipping virtual race packets, promotional discounts do not apply to virtual registrations. All virtual participants will pay full price. The virtual registration price will follow the same price calendar as regular registration. So you can still take advantage of Early Registration and pay less.
